WHO WE ARE

Tulsa Street Paws is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Bone after she noticed a critical need in the Tulsa area for veterinary care of unsheltered pets. Our mission is to provide veterinary services, health education, and nutritional support to the pets of Tulsa's unsheltered residents through compassionate service.

Our Team

Dr. Jana Bone

Meet Dr. Bone, she has been a veterinarian in the Tulsa area since 2011. As Dr. Bone settled into the Tulsa community, she quickly began her philanthropic services. During much of her outreach there was always a continuous need for veterinary care within the unsheltered population of Tulsa. In 2020, Dr. Bone moved her veterinary practice to downtown Tulsa, this is when the vision for Tulsa Street Paws Foundation was sparked.

Other organization she has volunteered with or provided the continuous support through donations: Lab Rescue of Oklahoma, Pause 4 Paw, Lisa Bain Ministry’s, Big Brother Big Sister of Tulsa, Coats for kids, Salvation Army Angel Tree, Joy in the Cause, Tulsa Day Center, and Tulsa Overflow Shelter during COVID.

Chandra Sampson

Chandra Sampson, originally from a quaint southern Oklahoma town, embarked on a life-changing journey when she relocated to Tulsa in September 2020. With a strong background in veterinary medicine spanning numerous years, Chandra has always been deeply passionate about the well-being of animals. However, her transition to the vibrant downtown Tulsa scene brought to light a pressing issue she hadn't encountered before the substantial unsheltered population.

Upon taking her first steps in Tulsa's veterinary medicine community, Chandra was struck by both the sheer size of the unsheltered population, and the number of pets that were by their sides. It was during a pivotal moment volunteering alongside Dr. Bone at an overflow shelter's vaccine clinic that Chandra realized that sporadic clinics were insufficient to meet the needs of Tulsa's homeless population and their four-legged companions.

Driven by her unwavering commitment to making a difference, Chandra eagerly engaged in conversations with Dr. Bone about addressing the unique challenges faced by Tulsa's homeless individuals with pets. Drawing from her own personal experiences, Chandra possesses a profound understanding and empathy of mental health issues, having cared for her mother who battled mental health since Chandra was just 12 years old. Recognizing that a substantial percentage of homeless individuals grapple with mental health issues, she felt an even deeper call to action.

Chandra understands that for many people, regardless of their circumstances, having a pet is more than just companionship, it's a lifeline. For those facing mental health challenges and homelessness, a pet can provide a sense of purpose, unconditional love, and a reason to keep going. It symbolizes hope in the midst of adversity.

Chandra is thrilled to be an integral part of Tulsa Street Paws, an organization committed to improving the lives of the unsheltered and their beloved pets. With her wealth of experience in veterinary medicine and her compassionate heart, she aspires to be a catalyst for positive change within the Tulsa community, one person and one furry friend at a time.
